Dragonlance Adventure Game Cancelled

The following is a joint statement issued by Wizards of the Coast and Sovereign Press, Inc.: Wizards of the Coast and Sovereign Press, in a joint decision, determined that development of the Dragonlance Adventure Game would cease. At this time, there are no plans to develop the product further, and there are no plans to release the product in the future. Both Wizards of the Coast and Sovereign Press are excited about the Sovereign Press Dragonlance 2005 product line-up, and a revised product schedule will be released soon.

Margaret Weis Forms New Company

New York Times best-selling author and game publisher Margaret Weis starts a new venture with the formation of Margaret Weis Productions, Ltd. Sovereign Press will still move forward, publishing Dragonlance products under license from Wizards of the Coast, while the new company will bring out exciting new titles in both games and books. The New York Times best-selling authors are packing up and heading out to Dragon*Con, a huge convention that combines fantasy, science-fiction, comics, anime, games, and everything else you might think of all under several roofs! It's the last big show of the year, and the staff will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Dragonlance and signing Towers of High Sorcery and War of the Lance at the booth, along with the new novel Amber & Ashes. The staff will have only limited access to e-mail and phones for the next week, so please be patient!

The Wizards of the Coast Website has posted a piece by author Margaret Weis explaining some of her thinking in the creation of her new Dragonlance novel, Amber & Ashes. Lucky attendees of the GenCon Game Fair were able to pick up a copy of the new novel, which features the dark cleric Mina prominently on the cover.

The Sovereign Press offices empty on this Friday afternoon, preparing for the trip to Indianapolis next week for the GenCon Game Fair. Authors Margaret Weis, Tracy Hickman, and Laura Hickman will be signing at the booth. The entire Sovereign Press staff, including Jamie Chambers, Renae Chambers, and Sean Everette will be on-hand, selling new products that include the novel Amber & Ashes and the Towers of High Sorcery and War of the Lance game supplements for Dragonlance!
